Our 20 bedded unit provides complex multi-disciplinary rehabilitation care to patients who have suffered a significant brain injury. As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be supported to become competent in all areas of complex neurological rehabilitation care including bowel/bladder care and as a key worker you will support the patient and be involved in complex discharge planning alongside the multi-disciplinary team. We offer rotation to all areas within the Neuroscience Directorate including, but not limited to Neuro Rehabilitation and Neurosurgery. Alongside flexible working, we encourage and support further education within relevant areas. As a Deputy you will be expected to take charge of the ward & supervise junior staff. Duties will include supporting Band 7 Sister with continuous innovation & improvement, roster management, conducting absence management reviews, values based appraisals, auditing, MDT & family liaison. This specialist unit operates using a multidisciplinary approach to deliver care and to achieve the best outcomes for patients. Standards of care are maintained through audit and governance. We have an educational programme available for staff and such as Tracheotomy care and care of patients with Prolonged disorders of consciousness .The Unit has a maximum capacity of 20 beds and works closely with our neighbouring health boards and those in England at times.. We work closely with other allied health professional to ensure that patients and their families receive care that is tailored to meet their needs. You will take on the responsibility of becoming a key worker and supporting patients and their families to set and accomplish goals. The Unit is a very rewarding to be a part of and supports patients to adapt to new ways of life following a life changing injury. As deputy you would be expected to access Leadership & Management Training to enable you to support the team in modelling Trust values & behaviours whilst developing their clinical skills. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
