Closely supported by a team of 3 Band 7 Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses and working together as part of a large team of Band 6 Sisters/Charge Nurses, we will help you to develop your role as a leader within the exciting field of acute medicine. We admit patients directly from A&E and ambulatory care to our 52 bedded AAU and aim to provide an exceptional standard of care whilst maintaining the flow of patients throughout the hospital. You will work closely with our dedicated team of 12 acute medical consultants as well as teams from all other medical specialties. We are able to provide level 1A care for more acutely unwell patients and have 8 beds with cardiac monitors. We also have a specialist frailty team who provides care for up to 10 patients within the AAU. To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team. As a proficient practitioner in adult nursing, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. They provide effective mentorship and preceptorship, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff. They will take charge of the Acute Admissions Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse to ensure effective and safe patient care.
