Work as an autonomous practitioner within their sphere of practice. Continuously improve clinical standards in line with clinical governance framework. Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code. Contribute to training and education within the specialist area. Provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff within the Trust on the management and care of patients within the specialist area. Provide direct access for patients, either face to face or telephone consultation Represent the service nationwide in the absence of the line manager/Matron. Play a key role in ensuring that national and local standards/targets for the specialist area are met. Manage and lead nurse led clinics in relation to reviewing patients and play a key role in optimising complex treatment regimes, facilitating hospital discharge and preventing avoidable hospital admissions. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Phoenix Unit Team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The Phoenix Unit is based on the Sunderland site, however there will be a requirement to work across all our sites. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our team and support the delivery of high quality safe Oncology and Haematology care. The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with degree level education (Adult). This is predominantly a nurse led unit so we are looking for an experienced nurse with an eagerness to develop knowledge in oncology and haematological treatment pathways. You will have at least 2 years post oncology/haematology experience as well as qualification within Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment or equivalent. Clinical skills qualification would be desirable however training can be organised if required.Mentorship qualification also essential. In this role, you will work closely with other departments to ensure the timely admission, treatment and discharge of patients requiring a range of treatments. You will ensure the best possible standards of patient care and maintain patient safety to assist in providing a positive patient experience. The right candidate will have strong communication skills, have an understanding of clinical audit and have experience in leading a team.
