Barnsley Hospitals Orthopaedic Elective Ward is now recruiting two permanent Band 5 staff nurses. We are a 19 bedded ward delivering care to elective patients ranging from day cases to major joint replacement surgeries. Ultimately, we assist patients in their recovery alongside Medics and Therapists to achieve their optimal level of independence and safe discharge home. With significant delays in elective surgery as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our service is recovering to combat the long waiting lists. We are looking to develop our service to achieve 24-hour discharge in hip and knee replacements. So, we are seeking someone passionate and enthusiastic to join the nursing team to achieve optimal recovery and timely turnaround for patients in a dynamic environment. We are dedicated to delivering a high standard of evidence-based care, ensuring a supportive, friendly and safe environment for both patients and staff. If you believe you are a highly motivated and committed individual who can work as part of our team and help deliver a high-quality service within Elective Orthopaedics we want to hear from you. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering compassionate personal care, recognising and meeting the specific needs of the patients. You will be managing and co-ordinating the day-today care of your patients. You will be responsible for admissions, discharges, theatre preparation, post-operative care and much more. This will require you to liaise with the larger MDT including medics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists. This role offers you the opportunity to take charge of the ward in the absence if a ward sister/charge nurse. The management team and clinical educator are keen to support staff in their personal and professional growth to ensure the team is functioning to their optimal level. Please read the Job Description attachment for more information. We encourage informal discussions or visits to the ward, please contact Lead Nurse Melissa Houseman if you would like to arrange this: mhouseman1@nsh.net or 01226 435238 "}
