LOCUM CONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC ANAESTHETISTS Up to three posts Fixed term for 6 months or maternity leave cover Start date late 2024 Interviews planned for week of November 11th 2024 Applications are invited for the position of locum consultant paediatric anaesthetist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The post is for a fully trained paediatric anaesthetist providing specialist paediatric anaesthesia to support all activity except cardiac anaesthesia. The posts is for 10 PAs and have no on-call commitment. The specialty is currently led by Dr Hilary Glaisyer. The department consists of 49 substantive consultants, 3 joint posts with PICU CICU and CATS and 30 post-fellowship registrars and fellows. You will be on the General Medical Council's specialist register for Anaesthetics (CCT or equivalent), or within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview. You will have completed (or be within 6 months of completion of) a recognised training programme in paediatric anaesthesia and have substantial experience. Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has over 300 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care. The patient population consists of well over 192,828 admissions or outpatient appointments per year. At present, the Department of Anaesthesia provides a service for 14 operating theatres: 2 in the new Premier Inn Clinical Building (PICB), 4 in the Morgan Stanley Building (MSCB), 6 in the Variety Club Building (VCB) and 2 in Octav Botnar Wing (OBW) and a recently opened operating MRI facility. All are used for NHS and International Private Patient activity. The full range of paediatric surgical subspecialties is covered in the hospital: cardiac surgery (including transplantation), neurosurgery and craniofacial surgery, general and neonatal surgery, orthopaedics, plastic, maxillofacial, ENT, ophthalmic surgery, and urological surgery (including renal transplantation). A service is also provided for imaging in MRI, CT, neuro-angiography, general angiography, interventional radiology and invasive cardiology across the five MRI scanners, three radiology laboratories, the catheter suite and CT scanner.
