We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern is Early Shift, 8.00-16.00 , weekend working. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Addiction team within NHS Prison Health Care at HMP Barlinnie. We work alongside our colleagues in the Scottish Prison Service as well as many other partner agencies to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of prisoners. The post holder is operationally responsible and professionally accountable to the Nurse Team Leader. This post is peripatetic across all four prisons in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board Area covering HMP Barlinnie, HMP Greenock, HMP Lilias and HMP Low Moss. Although you will be assigned a base, you will be expected to cross cover sites to meet the exigencies of the service. It Is Essential That You Are a First Level Registered Nurse Mental Health Educated to degree level or equivalent and have post registration experience working within a relevant clinical setting. Awareness of professional and clinical accountability, legal issues, role limitations and boundaries and balancing duty of care and public safety issues. Literate in current IT techniques Ability to work on own initiative Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
