We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Midwives to join our fabulous team. We have opportunities in the Community. We place the woman, baby and family at the centre of our service. We are a consultant led unit with a dedicated Midwifery led care area within our delivery suites and deliver care to a diverse population with complex medical and social needs working alongside a team of Specialist Midwives. UHDB has cross sites with consultant units at Derby and Burton on Trent, alongside Birth centre at Derby and a freestanding birth centre at Lichfield. Our Community Midwifery teams are GP caseload holding, providing antenatal and postnatal care, as well as supporting a homebirth service. We offer hours within community and welcome candidates who may wish to consider a dual contract between community and acute midwifery services. You should hold a full UK driving license, please make it clear in your application if you have your license or not. There is also Continuity of carer teams who provide all aspects of care to women. An extensive induction package is offered to any successful candidate joining our Maternity services to ensure you are well supported and have time to adjust to working within our services. Details of UHDB sites We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour. At Royal Derby Hospital there are: 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite. Four bedded Midwife led birth centre. Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite. Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub. Where we are now: We hold a CQC Good rating (from 2019) and we are focused on making progress in achieving compliance with the immediate and essential actions from Ockenden recommendations, as well as implementing valuable learning from recent external reviews and reports into the service. We want to: Be fully compliant against all national safety measures. Embed recommended changes from recent reviews of our service. Make sure we communicate well with families, so that every woman feels properly listened to and that we act on their feedback. Create the best possible environment at work for our teams to do their job.
