Here at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking for a Clinical Fellow (ST5+ grade) to join our Radiology team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. Based at Musgrove Park Hospital, our Radiology department has excellent facilities and modern equipment, and we also run x-ray and ultrasound services at our local community hospitals. You will have FRCR, full GMC registration and at least 4 years experience as a Radiology Specialty Registrar in the UK, or at least 1 year IR experience working or training following CCT, with demonstrable commitment and enthusiasm for Interventional Radiology. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic fellow who will be supervised by a team of 6 Interventional Radiologists (Dr Lewis, Dr Balasubramaniam, Dr White, Dr Batra, Dr Ward, Dr Ashcroft) while enjoying plentiful opportunities for professional development in vascular and non-vascular intervention. We have consistently offered a 24/7 Interventional Radiology service since 2014 and there is on-call service commitment on a 1:6 with consultant supervision. A broad repertoire of gastrointestinal, biliary and renal interventions are also undertaken. Other services offered include uterine fibroids and prostate artery embolisation, venous intervention, oncology support services. Somerset and North Devon vascular network has a population of >800,000 and incorporates North Devon and Yeovil districts in addition to the local Taunton and Somerset population. All aneurysmal work, all emergency vascular treatments, and vascular reporting is undertaken on the Taunton site. Elective IR work from Yeovil is performed at Taunton and we deliver a 'spoke service' to North Devon for day-case angioplasty. We accept various non-vascular referrals for IR from this territory. This post is for a Fellow in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. The post holder will be expected to contribute to general imaging and reporting, and the vascular and non-vascular interventional service. You will be required to take an active part in the teaching of junior medical staff, including radiographers, and medical students. The post holder will be expected to observe a degree of flexibility within the proposed job plan to allow for a flexible approach to service needs. The proposed timetable will be open to change following discussion with the Clinical Lead. The exact timetable and job plan will be determined after discussion with the appointee and consultant colleagues. However, it is expected that there will be 8 clinical sessions including 1 interventional list. And 1 session of emergency on call interventional work.
