Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Assistant Technical Officers. Read and record test results, including sterility tests, in line with laboratory procedures. Conduct microbiological identification tests using a range of instrumental and classical techniques. Manage and maintain stocks of consumables and equipment, ensuring availability for daily operations. Validate microbiology kits and sterility test samples as per laboratory standards. Ensure completion of all required paperwork, managing deviations, change controls, and out-of-specification results. Carry out basic microbiological tests, including bioburdens and tests on non-sterile samples. Monitor incubation temperatures and storage conditions using the Check-It monitoring system. Oversee the disposal of laboratory waste following Trust procedures. Key Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership and organisational skills to manage a small team. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in test results and documentation. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, suppliers, and laboratory staff.
