The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with the clinical team and wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload. This will involve the identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of patients participating in research along with the timely collation and documentation of accurate data. The role is patient facing and the post holder may be asked to work on COVID-19 research studies, in addition to trials within the oncology research portfolios. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clinical trials whereby they can make a valued contribution in assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in research. The post requires excellent communication skills, a sound understanding of complex scientific protocols, and the ability to work autonomously. Prior experience of working in research within an NHS setting is essential for this role and experience in oncology is highly desirable. A mature attitude, leadership skills and the ability to use initiative are essential attributes for this role. As a Band 6 Clinical Research Practitioner / Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients. You will act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations. You will contribute to the development of local policies related to all aspects of the research process and contribute to the training and supervision of staff and researchers. You will contribute to practitioner- and/or nurse-led research.
