Although care may be delegated to health care support workers (HCSW), the registered nurse remains accountable for the care provided and supervision. While the health care support worker will not always work under direct and immediate supervision, tasks must be completed within the framework of a plan of care. He/she/they is/are expected to be an effective member of the ward/department team and contribute to the best possible use of resources.
