We collaborate with biopharmaceutical companies, one of which focus' the development of therapies for inherited retinal dystrophies. One of the Company's lead programmes is a retinal gene therapy for Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a rare inherited cause of blindness that affects around 1 in 50,000 people. Gene therapy treatment has the potential to deliver a one-time treatment for RP and a range of other retinal dystrophies. Other GT trials include Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Stargardts disease. We are looking for a dynamic Ophthalmic Research Nurse to work on various Gene Therapy related clinical trials. Working alongside an existing support team. Research experience is essential with knowledge of gene therapy & ophthalmology a bonus. Main duties of the job The main objective for this Gene therapy Research Nurse role is to assist in the management of the gene therapy research portfolio of the Eye Research Group Oxford department, supporting the Clinical Lead for the gene therapy programmes. Ensuring that the trials run smoothly for the participants recruited. The post-holder will work with the gene therapy cohort of Ophthalmology patients with the Principal Investigator, and trial co-ordinator ensuring each gene therapy study is efficiently run, meeting recruitment targets.
