Main duties of the job Develop an integrated nursing role surrounding the management of vitreo-retinal ophthalmology patients and their families. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, internal and external ophthalmology, and vitreo-retinal related focus groups. Responsible for assessing the care needs of the patient group, through clinical assessment, whilst also considering psychological and sociological aspects of need. Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care given, implementing changes to ensure high standards of appropriate nursing care. Create and promote a partnership approach between the patient, carers and all professionals involved in their care (including outside agencies). Provide leadership and supervision, surrounding vitreo-retinal care, to less experienced to less experienced staff working across the Vitreo Retinal Emergency and outpatient departments.
