The Role Aeromedical Health Care Assistant (AHCA) will provide support and assistance to Aeromedical Nurse Specialists team (ANS) in preparation for diabetic file reviews and virtual and face to face appointments with the CAA endocrinology consultant. Additionally, The AHCA Will Provide support to other specialist clinics with phlebotomy and hair testing as required, blood sample processing and uploading the test results to the medical records system, Cellma Work with professional Support Team (PST) team to ensure that all attendees through the clinic submit the documents / information as requested by the consultant specialist / medical assessor, prior to their appointment Liaising with applicants / GPs / non-CAA specialists to gather required information Provide a triage service for the ANS case work referrals that are submitted through Cellma records system, and with training in the role being able to manage the non-complex cases Provide a triage and sifting process for emails / telephone queries for the ANS. Handle incoming correspondence and telephone calls, filtering and redirecting appropriately, and with training in the role being able to answer appropriately giving correct advice and guidance to AMEs and applicants Complete the reporting of AME Procedural errors for the ANS team To act as the initial point of contact for the ANS in their absence, checking emails, assessing priorities, and redirecting enquiries, calls and requests as necessary To provide advice and information courteously and helpfully to aircrew, doctors, other SARG departments and other customers, in matters of medical fitness, medical certification, requirements and standards on medical certification procedures, and, to identify when/where appropriate to refer cases to a specialist Core Accountabilities Coordinate diabetic clinic appointments dates and accordingly will send email reminders to applicants to submit all necessary reports as specified in the diabetic protocol within 2 weeks from their appointment Ensure the completeness of submitted reports in preparation for review by Aeromedical Nurse Specialists (ANS) Liaising with ANS for any complex queries, after training being able to address and answer non-complex cases Monitoring reports uploaded in Cellma for ARA.MED.330 applicants and updating diabetic spreadsheet and Cellma record during ANS cover Taking blood and hair samples as part of the specialist addictions psychiatry clinics, processing and uploading test results to Cellma Reporting any problems to ANS’s, Clinic Manager, Lead MA on Addictions clinics and Addictions Psychiatrist Liaising with the Cellma Data Analyst to ensure accurate reporting data Coordination and prioritisation of the ANS inbox, ensuring these are forwarded to the appropriate clinical person, answering the non-complex clinical queries independently Triage of the ANS daily worklist to enable the ANS to prioritise their workload About You To be considered for the role you will need to have a: Essential Good standard of education to include, English and Maths Well versed in all IT Microsoft packages and able to collate and analyse information Must have a proven “can-do” attitude and an appetite for learning High degree of interpersonal skills at all levels Able to show empathy and put people at ease Willingness to work flexibly in response to changes in priority and under pressure including location and hours A proven flair for pre-empting situations and identifying solutions Demonstrated ability to use initiative and discretion Proven reliability and commitment Ability to manage frequently changing plans and other tasks in a composed manner Good communication skills at all levels Desirable Experience in a medical / clinical environment Familiar with diabetic protocol for pilots on insulin ARA.MED.330 Knowledge of medical terminology Phlebotomy experience Hair strand testing experience Knowledge of the Cellma medical records system Additional Information For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information.
