Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. You will use various IT systems including GP IT system eg EMIS/System One and will be confident in engaging with all other providers. Where you have identified training needs these will be fully supported by the ESPCN Community manager and management team. You will also work in partnership with the acute clinical teams, to ensure thepatient journey is seamless and as efficient as it possibly can be. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels. The HCAs main responsibilities are: ECG recording Phlebotomy Chronic disease monitoring including blood pressure checks and diabetic foot checks Wound care including suture removal Ear Syringing H-pylori Testing NHS Health Checks Vaccinations and B12 injections Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording Surgical equipment and clinical equipment re-stocking and stock rotation Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being This list is not exhaustive, and duties and responsibilities may change depending upon the needs of the practice.
