The post holder will work as a member of the nursing team under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse in Discharge Lounge They will undertake delegated personal care duties for patients / clients and will provide support for Nursing staff in maintaining a stable and safe clinical environment. They will assist in the running of the ward, working with indirect supervision from a Registered Nurse. Assist in the direct care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Working with indirect supervision from a Registered Nurse Courteously receive patients, relatives and visitors onto the ward Act as an advocate for patients, protecting their rights, privacy and dignity. Independently provide a high standard of care to patients under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse. Once assessed as competent: independently do patient observations like blood pressure measurements, checking of pulse, oxygen saturation and blood glucose measurements. Report any change in a patient’s condition to the supervising nurse or nurse in charge. Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and other staff, as directed by the supervising nurse or nurse in charge. Act as a chaperone to patients/clients and accompany them to other wards or departments maintaining their privacy, dignity and safety always.
