As part of the recruitment process for this post, candidates will be required to complete an online literacy and numeracy test and only if they pass this, will they be invited to a formal interview.


The post holder will work as a member of the nursing team under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse in Discharge Lounge They will undertake delegated personal care duties for patients / clients and will provide support for Nursing staff in maintaining a stable and safe clinical environment. They will assist in the running of the ward, working with indirect supervision from a Registered Nurse.

  • Assist in the direct care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Working with indirect supervision from a Registered Nurse
  • Courteously receive patients, relatives and visitors onto the ward
  • Act as an advocate for patients, protecting their rights, privacy and dignity.
  • Independently provide a high standard of care to patients under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse.
  • Once assessed as competent: independently do patient observations like blood pressure measurements, checking of pulse, oxygen saturation and blood glucose measurements.
  • Report any change in a patient’s condition to the supervising nurse or nurse in charge. Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and other staff, as directed by the supervising nurse or nurse in charge.
  • Act as a chaperone to patients/clients and accompany them to other wards or departments maintaining their privacy, dignity and safety always.
