The post will require the coordination of appropriate services to maximise the delivery of streamlined diagnostic pathways, thereby improving quality of care and experience for patients and their carers and diagnosing cancer earlier. The post-holder will support with coordinating the MDT meetings for the non-specific symptoms service, tracking the patient pathways, and provide comprehensive secretarial support to the service ensuring potential breaches of cancer waiting times are avoided or escalated to the RDS Lead. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day line management of the RDS coordinator The purpose of this role is to support the clinical team for patients referred with a suspected cancer including non-specific symptoms to achieve definitive diagnosis by day 28 and provide comprehensive secretarial support to the service. This role has been specially designed to support the optimal timed pathways and will require the post holder to evolve to support the pathway as it continues to refine over time. You will be responsible for the day to day line management of the RDS admin officer. It is expected that the post holder can work autonomously, using their own initiative and within a specialised team. The post holder is expected to be highly experienced within the hospital setting with knowledge and evidence of specialised terminology, educated to a level required to perform the role or equivalent experience. The post-holder will actively support and contribute to the requirements of the service and ensure compliance with performance targets and quality standards required at a local and national level.
