Our Nursing Assistants take great pride in the essential work we do in the Adult Theatres. That’s because we’re not just helping patients, we’re going the extra mile for them – day in, day out. care. You’ll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, working flexibly across a range of day and night shifts over 7 days a week. Previous Theatre experience is desirable but not essential. The advert may close early if there is high demand. Theatres and Elective In Reach (TIER) is looking for Theatre Support Workers to work within our 18 theatre department, that covers a range of specialties such as Emergency, Trauma, vascular, renal, urology, head and neck and general surgery. Your role will be that of a Nursing Assistant to support the qualified theatre practitioners. Your main responsibility will be inside Theatres supporting qualified practitioners to prepare the theatre and sterile equipment for surgery. This will include manual handling of surgical equipment and instruments, and assisting patient positioning. You will support the Scrub Practitioner and Surgical Team throughout the case, including setting up laparoscopic equipment, handling implants, and completing associated digital documentation. Additional duties include collecting, escorting and reassuring patients to and from ward areas into the anaesthetic room and forward wait area where patients wait for their operative procedure. The role also includes other duties for example waste management, stock rotation, cleaning and use of medical devices. You would also cover other roles such as housekeeping and theatre sterile services if required. If you are new to working in healthcare, you’ll be supported to develop your knowledge and skills through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants. Upon completion of the Programme, will give you the opportunity to progress to a Band 3 Nursing Assistant.
