These Are Barefoot Lodge (provided by Oxleas) Heather Close, Westways and Tony Hillis Unit (provided by South London and Maudsley) Burntwood Villas and Phoenix (provided by South West London and St George’s). Established in October 2022, the service and it’s ways of working are being co-produced with the SLP and each of the wards to ensure it is integrated into the model of care within each unit, creating a seamless service for the service user. It is expected that the service and inpatient rehabilitation staff, by working together, will create a team culture with consistent ways of working that will optimise the recovery outcomes of people with mental health and substance use needs. In addition to direct and indirect clinical assessments and interventions, this post will provide an excellent opportunity for the post holder to utilize and develop their skills in: teaching and training; group work; leadership; and service development. Engagement in personal CPD is also strongly encouraged. This post is fixed term until June 2025 and can be arranged as a secondment. Working alongside nursing and psychology colleagues, the post holder will lead development and delivery of excellent care for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders within inpatient rehabilitation wards; in line with national best practice guidance, NICE and DoH guidance and Trust policy. The post holder will also work with ward colleagues of all disciplines to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in working with people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders so that it is a core aspect of the work of all team members. They will promote understanding of the effect that substance use can have on inpatient care/treatment (e.g. length of stay, risk to physical health, incidence of Absent Without Leave (AWOLs), safeguarding adults, collaborative recovery and support planning during admission and post discharge). The post holder will work with teams to maintain safe environments; minimising the use of substances on Trust premises and the harms that substances can have on service users, staff and visitors alike. This is inclusive of practical hands on approaches to support staff with searches, safe disposal of substances and close liaison with local security management specialists, police, site managers and drug dog handlers where applicable. The Post Holder will support the development of excellent relationships with partner agencies to promote effective collaborative working and seamless care pathways.
