This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to enhance and develop their managerial skills in leading a team of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals. You will be pivotol in ensuring the Ward runs efficiently and effectively by working closely with multiple Specialist Nursing and Surgical Teams and the wider MDT. You must have excellent leadership qualities and be able to act as a role model for the Nursing Team to ensure the highest standards of care and patient safety. As the Ward Manager you will be accountable for the quality of care delivered to patients and families by your team over a 24 hour ward cycle. Through your leadership you will effectively manage all resources, including your budget whilst ensuring the highest standards of care to patients. Through excellent communication and commitment to your team you will ensure compliance with all Corporate and Divisional objectives and continuous professional development. You will lead in establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives and carers to always ensure their involvement in the decisions about treatment, planning and the delivery of theircare. You will lead in maximising best use of clinical resources, the monitoring and evaluation of patient flow, admission and discharge planning and take responsibility for initiating improvements. You will lead in providing the highest standard of evidenced based care to all patients and families through on-going comprehensive assessments of patient's requirements, and to plan, implement andevaluate care delivery to patients with varying levels of complexity. You will manage and ensure patient records are maintained and monitored in accordance with the Trust's data collection policy and procedure, ensuring that documentation reflects the care providedand that you address any issues or concerns that arise. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £27.50(standard) or £55.50(enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16per year applies. New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
