We are therefore seeking applications to join the team as Band 2 Rotational Midwifery Care Assistant - working within the hospital setting. The team will provide a robust orientation programme, so you are able to have an insight into each clinical area from day one. Going forward the role of the Midwifery Care Assistant is expected to develop here at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to reflect the Maternity Support Workers National Framework so further training and qualifications may be required to support this role in the future, however you will be supported to achieve these by the team. We are really proud to have achieved and maintained BFI Level 3 accreditation. We are an ambitious department, with plans in place to continue to develop and improve the service we offer. This is a rotational post with opportunity for experience in all areas of maternity within the hospital. You will have the support of a friendly and enthusiastic team dedicated to excellent maternity care with the o pportunity to develop further under the new Maternity Support Workers National Framework Our busy maternity service provides care for approximately 5000 deliveries per year. We have a team providing community based midwifery services as well as our Out Patient Department and in-patient facilities. On site, we have 32 postnatal beds incorporating 5 transitional care beds, and 13 antenatal beds. Our Delivery Suite/Triage area has 15 birthing rooms including a birthing pool, 2 obstetric theatres, anaesthetic and recovery rooms that provide a full range of facilities for high dependency care. We also provide a Maternity Assessment Unit, which offers a resource for women to attend and be reviewed as required. We additionally provide a co-located Midwifery Led Birthing Unit which comprises of 4 birthing rooms, with water birth facilities available. Please see the attached job description for full details of the role which includes: Under the direction of the Registered Midwife, work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, to provide the highest standards of patient care within maternity services. To carry out duties as specified within the Trusts Approved core task list for Healthcare assistants. 3. To report to registered staff any patient who gives cause for concern or any observed changes in the patients condition. 4. To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care. 5. To participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff. 6. Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care in accordance with Essence of care standards. 7. To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Midwife. 8. To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Midwife maintaining confidentiality at all times.
