STU is a fast-paced, 16-bedded unit with a seating area accommodating up to 20 patients awaiting assessment. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. Oversee the smooth running of the unit, coordinating patient assessments and managing the flow of admissions. Provide clinical leadership and support to staff, promoting best practices and patient safety. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and effective surgical triage services. Requirements: A passion for leadership and excellent communication skills. Previous experience in General Surgery is desirable but not essential. Opportunities for education and development will be provided to support your growth in this role. Participate in the supervision of junior nurses and unregistered staff. Report all accidents/untoward incidents and ensuring relevant documentation is completed. Undertake delegated responsibilities from the Ward Manager. Develop an awareness of the cost implications and exercise economy when using or ordering medical supplies. Participate in the investigation of complaints and incidents. Participate in the promotion of safety, well-being and interests of the patients, staff, and all visitors to the clinical area. Participate in the appraisal system. Responsible for assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care. Assist in developing an environment that supports the value of nursing care. Carry out clinical duties in accordance with National, Trust and local standards and policies. Advise patients/clients about health promotion and prevention of illness. Take responsibility for the correct use and operation of medical equipment in accordance with relevant Trust and national guidance. Assist in monitoring standards of care within the Trust's Governance Framework and agreed priorities, contributing to audit where possible. About us This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role. The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
