We have 1 roles available at Frimley Park Hospital after successfully recruiting a Wexham Park Fellow. You will be leading and developing Human Factors Education , focussing specifically on delivering a programme of education which embeds the System Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPS) approach. This will involve exploring clinical practice around patient safety incidents / serious untoward incidents, then designing and delivering Human Factors and SEIPS training using relevant tools. You will work to develop a network of Human Factors champions, who will develop HF knowledge to support their clinical areas e.g. ICU, Anaesthetics, Emergency Care, Paediatrics etc. Training is very important to us at FHFT, and we have an excellent reputation for individual trainee support. As part of the role, you will be allocated a clinical supervisor. You will be sponsored to complete postgraduate academic studies as part of the role, and there is an expectation to develop your own Human Factors knowledge and expertise, as well as your leadership skills. Successfully set up, design and deliver a programme of education encompassing simulation debrief with SEIPS tool Successfully set up, design and deliver Human Factors champion training with an aim to have a champion for 8 key clinical directorates - ICU, Anaesthetics, Rapid Response & Resus Team, Emergency Care, Maternity, Paediatrics, Interventional Radiology and, Cardiac Services Undertake a minimum of one SEIPS review / per month linking in directly with the clinical teams, and designing and supporting a scheme of Human Factors education and training Attend trust wide Patient Safety meetings and Patient Safety review panels throughout the year, and when appropriate and asked to, provide Human factors education advise and recommendations as part of the panel. Where appropriate and opportunity to do so, increase the use SEPIS in simulation debrief to 50% of debriefs within the year within simulation training (for medical trainees, nurses, AHPS and MDT) Build awareness of HF and actively participate in wider system related to project and development goals Attend relevant and appropriate trust wide and regional meetings relevant to the role and objectives About us 0-3 months Undertake an initial leadership 360 appraisal and with support develop a PDP including a plan for coaching. Establish an understanding of the Trusts structure, roles and responsibilities, engage with the relevant stakeholders / committees and start to develop a professional network related to role and objectives. Gain an understanding of Human Factors workstream at FHFT. Identify the first key clinical area to work with re SUI / near miss and application of HF / SEIPS model and support the team in implementing an educational and or training plan. Initial TNA for HF training and SEIPS education and a collect baseline data where HF issues were indicated within patient safety incidents. Design, plan and deliver roll out of initial HF champion educational training Raise awareness of HF science and SEIPS support for clinical teams and within simulation training, and clinical and medical education days and events. 3-6 months Start roll out of Human Factors Champion training Ongoing; Raise awareness of HF science and SEIPS support for clinical teams and within simulation training, and clinical and medical education days and events Ongoing; continue working with with identified clinical teams re SUI/ near misses and application of HF / SEIPS model with clinical teams etc. Set up series of HF shared learning events, exploring SEIPS & PSIRF issues.
