What to expect

1. Can you explain your understanding of the Transforming Care agenda and its implications for individuals with learning disabilities and autism?
2. How do you keep up-to-date with current health policies relevant to Learning Disability and Autism care?
3. Describe a time when you had to communicate complex health information to a patient or their family. How did you ensure they understood the information?
4. How do you approach communication when working with individuals who have challenging behaviour?
5. Can you give an example of how you have implemented a person-centred approach in your previous roles?
6. In your view, what are the key components of developing a person-centred care plan for a patient with complex health needs?
7. Describe your experience working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and agencies. What strategies do you use to ensure effective partnership working?
8. Can you discuss a case where a partnership with another agency greatly improved the quality of care for a patient?
9. What is your understanding of the Continuing Healthcare (CHC) assessment process? Have you had any direct experience in assessing eligibility?
10. How would you approach a case where a patient may not easily meet the criteria for CHC but you believe they have complex needs that warrant further consideration?
11. Can you explain the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and how they apply to your practice?
12. Describe your experience with safeguarding vulnerable adults. What steps do you take when you suspect a safeguarding concern?
13. Can you share an experience where you had to adapt your approach in a rapidly changing environment? What was the outcome?
14. How do you stay motivated and ensure you provide high-quality care even in challenging situations?
15. How do you assess and manage challenging behaviour in patients with learning disabilities and autism?
16. Could you provide an example where you successfully de-escalated a challenging situation with a patient?
17. What strategies have you used in the past to improve health outcomes for individuals on your caseload?
18. How do you measure the success of the interventions you implement for patients with complex needs?
19. What areas of professional development are you currently pursuing to enhance your skills as a nurse clinician?
