Its main use is found in cancer treatment, where it canbe used on its own, or as part of a wider treatment, which may also involve surgery or chemotherapy. TherapeuticRadiographers work in the radiotherapy department to plan and deliver radiotherapy. The radiotherapy department at NNUH is a networked, paperless department. We have a managed service contract whichallows us to purchase and maintain state of the art radiotherapy equipment, including a fleet of five Varian TrueBeam linearaccelerators, two CT simulators, a Varian Bravos brachytherapy unit and an Xstrahl 150 superficial unit. Our dosimetryplanning is radiographer-led, predominately using VMAT and IMRT. We also have radiographer-led on-treatment review andradiotherapy late effects services. We are looking for forward thinking, team players, who want to take up this exciting degree apprenticeship opportunity. Thesuccessful candidates will study to gain a BSc (Hons) Degree in Therapeutic Radiography whilst working in the radiotherapydepartment. The degree apprenticeship will be delivered as a 3-year programme in Therapeutic Radiography with on-the-jobtraining and specific academic support from the University of Hertfordshire (20% protected time). Most of the taughtelement of your degree apprenticeship will be undertaken remotely, although there will be a short placement at theuniversity base each year. On completion of the training period, the employee will be expected to qualify as a TherapeuticRadiographer and gain HCPC registration in order to practice. The Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographer is part of a team who is responsible for planning and delivering high qualitytreatment to cancer patients.
