We are a hard-working and enthusiastic department with a strong sense of teamwork. The successful applicant will have the motivation, vision and leadership qualities necessary to lead a successful theatre team and will be expected to use those skills to coordinate the department, working within a flexible working pattern to meet the needs of the service. You will be expected to deputise for Clinical Operations Manager as required. The applicant will be an experienced orthopaedic scrub practitioner who is proactive, self-motivated, has strong interpersonal skills and a vision for service improvement. Liaise with the theatre coordinator to ensure that patients are prepared for theatre in reasonable time and are received in to the theatre department adhering to the concepts laid out by the 8 Steps to Safer Surgery and the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist. Assist in the safe handling, transfer and positioning of patients. Provide skilled assistance when participating in scrub/ anaesthetic and circulating duties in the Trauma and Orthopaedic operating theatre. Liaise and communicate with other departments e.g. Company representatives, laboratory services, EBME and sterile services. Liaise and communicate with the hospital Trauma Coordinator to enable organisation of theatre lists, post operative bed availability and pre-operative patient preparations. Liaise and communicate with surgeons to ensure correct kit, equipment, trays and staffing levels. Ensure Implants stock consignment levels are adhered to, Discuss any issues and stock levels with procurement and clinical operations manager. Ensure all that all Orthopaedic Theatre equipment is checked as suitable for use prior to each patients operation. Ensure all Orthopaedic instrument trays, implants and consumables are prepared and fit for use prior to each patients operation. To demonstrate clinical expertise in scrub/ anaesthetic and circulating practice within the Orthopaedic operating theatre. Ensure the correct stock of implants required for patients undergoing major orthopaedic surgery. To participate investigation of incidents / complaints as required.
