This is a substantive full-time appointment to support the Imaging services across UHDB. The post is based at the UHDB, mainly split between two major sites with acute care facilities (RDH and QHB). Following expansion of our services associated with our successful Community Diagnostic Centres, we are looking to appoint Consultant Radiologists across multiple sub-speciality interests, including Uro-Radiology, Head and Neck imaging, Neuro-Radiology, Breast, Chest, Cardiac, MSK and Nuclear medicine. The appointed candidate will work with a team of established specialist radiologists providing diagnostic imaging expertise in Radiology. The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust have 50 Consultant Radiologists (part and full time). In addition, we have 18 Speciality Registrars on rotation from Nottingham and Leicester. The appointed consultant is expected to cover general reporting in addition to their sub-speciality work and participate on the diagnostic on call rota at the Royal Derby Hospital. The on-call work will be supported by a large cross site team of 12 reporting radiographers reporting plain film and MSK MRI The post attracts 10 PAs (8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA) but we would be happy to consider part time working arrangements. There is opportunity for additional PAs for dedicated medical student funded teaching. New Consultants are encouraged to support the Radiology Academy teaching programme utilising a purpose-built Academy. We are keen to promote flexible working. Most Consultants have a full-time job plan which they work over 4 days. Virtually all of our consultant workforce have home reporting work stations and we can work together to achieve a mutually beneficial job plan which enhances the work life balance of any successful candidate. We are now a large cross site imaging department employing approximately 680 staff offering all imaging modalities. Our equipment portfolio supports modern up to date scanners - 10 MRI and 11 CTs, located in our mains sites and our community diagnostic centres. There are 5 fluoro rooms including 2 dedicated interventional suites and a hybrid theatre. The Trust Imaging Department also provides imaging services at seven community hospitals throughout Derbyshire and East Staffordshire. Three of these will be designated as Community Diagnostic Centres where comprehensive imaging services will be developed with a number of exciting developments to include new CT, (routine and Cardiac), MRI, U/S training academy, DeXA and X-Ray. About us In addition to specialist interests, all consultants will be involved in providing a general clinical service to the Trust: Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the Radiology consultant on-call rota. Active participation in undergraduate and postgraduate education, including training sessions for Foundation Years, Specialty Registrars, and medical students. Provision of cover for your consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave including care of patients and supervision of doctors in training. Responsible for the professional supervision, training, and management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to postgraduate and CPD activity locally and nationally as appropriate.
