The midwife is ultimately responsible for the care of the mother and her new-born(s), and it is under the direct or indirect supervision of the midwife that the MSW assists with and provides care following completion of any relevant or appropriate training. The employee will be provided with appropriate training for the clinical setting in which they are working. These settings include antenatal inpatient or outpatient care, intrapartum inpatient care, including theatres, postnatal inpatient and outpatient care and community. The post holder will have Level 2 Qualifications within the Regulated Qualifications Framework, have 5 GCSEs or equivalent or previous clinical experience within health and social care settings relevant to role and evidences values associated with NHS constitution and commitment to Level 3 role development including completion of Care Certificate. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, providing direct care to women, birthing people, and babies accessing maternity services. Provide effective evidence based care to patients referred to the service under the supervision of qualified practitioners. To use personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a high quality, cost effective service. To work closely with the Multidisciplinary Team. Following the successful completion of the Band 3 core competency framework you will ensure you act within your sphere of competence at all times and be confident and accountable for your actions.
