Our main site is Barnsley Hospital, which is a 400-bed acute hospital, serving a population of over a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area, South Yorkshire. Our second site is our new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) that is based in The Glass Works in Barnsley Town Centre. It offers vital testing and screening services in a convenient location in a fresh and modern environment. Our mission is to provide the best possible care for the people of Barnsley and beyond at all stages of their life and we currently have the rating of Good by the CQC. Between our two sites we have 3 MRI scanners and 3 CT scanners, that provide outstanding services including specialist scans such as CT cardiac and CT colonography and are hoping to drive forward with new services such as MRI pacemaker scanning. To help support and our contrast service we would like the successful candidate to work 8-6 days. The main role is to act as the lead educator within the CT service to ensure consistency in training. There would be possible scope for further training, to develop leadership skills and skills to develop the team. Successful candidates will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting training within the department as well as being a part of a clinical band 7 cross sectional team. This role requires an enthusiastic, highly organised and motivated senior Radiographer with excellent coaching and mentoring skills to provide clinical leadership. Significant CT experience is needed and there will also be will be expectations to work within our cross-sectional team, this includes supporting and managing the MRI team as part of the role. The post holder will be a role model for all staff groups, demonstrating a professional and pro-active approach, providing advice, guidance, and support to staff in clinical practice. In collaboration with senior clinical post holders, actively participate in service improvement by facilitating an understanding of evidence and management, and work alongside colleagues to support them in their role of developing staff. This will require application of specialist knowledge into practice in a range of contexts, development of education development programmes for learners and mentors and training of specific skills in CT.
