The post holder will greet all attendance to the SDEC department, completing necessary administrative duties relating to their attendance and also work closely with the multidisciplinary team providing and recording timely and accurate information required to support and maintain patient flow, under the direction of the ward manager. The post holder needs to be enthusiastic and dynamic. They will need to have problem shooting/solving skills and an extremely good and effective standard of communication. Welcome patients and acknowledge visitors to the ward, ensuring that they are directed to the appropriate area and relevant personnel are informed of their arrival. Act as a point of contact for patients / relatives / carers and the multidisciplinary team and refer enquiries etc., to appropriate personnel. Support the specialty by ensuring that patient notes, investigation reports and x-rays are maintained and readily available. Be responsible for inputting data onto the SDEC data systems, recording patient associated timings and referral methods including presenting complaints. Liaise with medical secretaries and other personnel to assist in the smooth running of the ward / clinical environment. Act professionally and remain courteous at all times. Ensure that relatives / carers receive verbal and written information regarding other services as appropriate to individual patient need. Order and monitor stationary supplies.
