To track and update patient movement through the unit/ward. To be responsible for maintaining the validity and accuracy of information, by ensuring all paper and electronic records/bed states are appropriately maintained, e.g., bed occupancy system, and performing a daily update of PAS, (REAL TIME bed management), ensuring any data input errors from the previous day are reported and corrected. To assist, where applicable, in ensuring all Trust targets are met. To participate in the collection of data for audit, as required. To provide administrative support to the Senior Sister as required, taking responsibility for issues as appropriate, e.g., Serco re maintenance and repairs, IT helpdesk for installation and maintenance issues, provision of medical certificates, etc. To be responsible for providing support to the Senior Sister in relation to the administration of staff PDRs and management/monitoring of staff annual leave/sickness. To liaise with Bed Bureau and the Transport Department as necessary. To liaise with external departments as required, arranging appointments for Out-Patient and In-Patient testing. To be responsible for maintaining the safe storage of patient records/x-rays on the unit/ward. To oversee their maintenance, e.g., filing, amalgamating notes, whilst encouraging other professionals to adhere to the correct filing order. Managerial Responsibilities To deal with patients property, including valuables, in accordance with the Trusts policy. To report any accidents/incidents to the nurse in charge and take appropriate action. To facilitate the induction of new staff to the unit/ward, providing instruction and guidance on the systems and processes within the unit/ward. To be responsible for monitoring stock levels and ordering stationery. To be responsible for handling petty cash and donations to the ward in the appropriate manner. Education and development Responsibilities To participate in a system of Personal Development Review, identifying training needs to develop role. To attend annual updates on fire, manual handling, resuscitation procedures and other mandatory training events. To agree on personal objectives with line manager.
