You will be joining a team of three band 7 midwives, a band 4 failsafe officer plus admin support. We are looking for an experienced midwife with knowledge of the National Screening programmes. The postholder will be responsible for monitoring the antenatal and newborn screening pathways and provide expertise and leadership in this area. You will be responsible for ensuring all screening tests are completed meeting the national standards and ensuring our failsafe processes are effective. The postholder will also provide antenatal screening counselling and be responsible for the management of women receiving screening and high risk results or diagnosis. You will have the necessary skills and confidence to practice autonomously and be committed to ensuring that women, birthing persons, babies and their families receive the care and support required to promote optimum outcomes and positive experiences. This is a senior Midwifery role and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully participate in the clinical and professional leadership within the organisation. You will work in collaboration with a dynamic team of Senior Midwives including matrons, consultant midwives, Heads of Midwifery, and business partners to shape our maternity service. Provide an effective antenatal and newborn screening and counselling service through performance management and quality assurance of the service. Ensure regular audit locally of uptake and effectiveness of the service against National Screening Committee and trust standards providing leadership, expertise and training to all staff. Ensure the provision of an effective local antenatal and neonatal screening service in line with the recommendations of the National Screening Committee, reporting to the Division of Maternity and other national bodies. Provide responsive and timely counselling service tor those women with increased risk results. Co-ordinates data collection processes to inform the requirements of key performance indicator data collection and other local regional and national quality assurance, audit and monitoring processes Coordinates a multi professional clinical steering group to critically oversee the management and quality of the antenatal and newborn screening programmes and examine audit reports to ensure national antenatal and neonatal screening targets are achieved.
