Ensure there are systems in place to develop nurse roles and nurse-in-charge role which meet both needs of service and corporate objectives. Using specialised knowledge ensure the clinical needs of patients are met, taking overall responsibility for the department. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate.
