You will also help to develop better provision and capacity for Forensic Healthcare Services and provide inpatient consultant / RC responsibilities to 15 female patients on low secure ward at the Chichester Centre, North West Sussex. The ward has an effective multidisciplinary team with senior nurses (including two nurse consultants, one on each site), Social Workers, Psychologists, and OTs and specialist therapists working across the service. You willwork closely with the matron and other lead professionals to provide clinical leadership to the ward team as the ward-based Consultant Psychiatrist and ensure safe, supportive care within the Low Secure Services. The Consultant will participate in the planning and development of local Mental Health Services and to contribute constructively to improving the standards of mental health care within Sussex (via attendance at established governance and service improvement groups) . About us The post holder will be expected to: To act as an Approved/Responsible Clinician for patient's subject to the MHA. Manage a case-load of 15 inpatients and carry out assessments as required. Participate in the weekly referrals meeting and undertake assessments for suitability for admission to LSU Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies to assist in the management of mentally disordered offenders. Offer training to professionals. Participate in the on-call rota. Develop a clinical leadership role within the MDT team and across the service and work with colleagues and management to ensure optimal service delivery. Participate in business planning for the locality and, as appropriate, contribute to the broader strategic and planning work of the Trust.
