The role is within the Stroke Therapy service based at the Royal Bolton Hospital and may support the wider Stroke Therapy and Community Stroke team based at Breightmet Health Centre. The post holder will be part of a friendly and dynamic team working closely to provide collaborative care and specialist Occupational Therapy treatment, intervention and advice. The successful applicant will work as part of a well established and highly skilled Stroke Therapy multidisciplinary team, alongside physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, therapy assistants and nurses. The service actively encourages training and staff development supported by experienced senior staff. The post holder will benefit from working within a supportive team, with a robust supervision and appraisal programme, excellent in-house training and CPD. Supervision and support will be provided by Band 7 Occupational Therapists. To work as an autonomous practitioner within the stroke therapy service supported by highly specialist therapists. To perform therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes. To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To provide clinical education, advice and support for junior therapy staff and support staff. To provide highly specialist knowledge, skills and advice to clients, and be a source of expertise for therapy staff, other members of the MDT and other agencies. To supervise, educate and assess the performance of therapy students. To contribute to service research and audit activities. To propose any service changes within own professional speciality area.
