An opportunity has arisen in the Adult Medicine (MCEC) Directorate of Darent Valley Hospital for a part time Medical Administrator. The post holder will be expected to ensure a comprehensive effective administrative and secretarial service to all consultants, specialist nurses, medical staff and their team within the clinical unit to allow the smooth and efficient performance of the service. You will be expected to liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the post holder will be expected to be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people including clients, colleagues, sub-contractors and external agencies. The ability to organise meetings, and diary management are essential to this post. Excellent IT skills and previous experience in an office setting are essential. If you have the above experience along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidence in working autonomously and can uphold our Trust values we want you. To provide a full and efficient secretarial service to the consultant team. To work in close co-operation with staff, patients and other health professionals to ensure a high quality service. To be an active and supportive member of the department's administrative and clerical team. Produce correspondence and draft correspondence, reports and letters. Create, manage and update documents and electronic filing system for the medical team. Printing, photocopying, scanning and filing of paper documents following all necessary IG principles. Update and maintain consultants' holiday and absence records. Ensure email communication is effective and discreet between patients and patients are booked in via the telephone in a prompt and professional manner. We are looking for someone with previous secretarial experience only, ideally in an NHS environment, who has excellent audio typing skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology. You need to be able to organise your workload and cope under pressure.
