A post has become available in the Coronary care unit for an enthusiastic, dynamic qualified nurse with strong interpersonal skills. In this environment you will need to have a calm but assertive manner and be able to manage a changing workload. Cardiology at Wexham Park Hospital offers a 24 hour primary PCI service for STEMI patients. We care for patients who have acute coronary syndrome, heart failure and arrhythmias You will gain skills in caring for patients with a range of cardiac illness and be involved in cardiac procedures in the CCL. To provide direct nursing care to the patients with cardiology conditions. Prepare and undertake agreed clinical activities. To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care ensuring trust policies and guidelines are adhered to. To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation, in accordance with clinical governance. To be aware of the complaints procedure and incident reporting and be able to apply it as needed. To escalate as appropriate any untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues. To participate in on-going clinical supervision and audits. To maintain own personal portfolio/profile and to take responsibility for annual updates on current legislative/hospital issues. To ensure all training undertaken is evaluated to determine its effectiveness in practice and to ensure all objectives have been met. To assist in teaching programmes for student nurses/new staff and newly qualified nurses and contribute towards a positive learning environment. To promote good working relationships, within the multidisciplinary team and to support the ward manager to achieve high morale within the team. Provide specialist advice in Cardiac procedures and support in the promotion of health. To use all resources efficiently and effectively maintaining an awareness of budgetary implications. Practice extended clinical roles e.g. venepuncture, cannulation, IV additives and male catheterisation.
