Using effective telephone consultation and triage skills, successful candidates will assess and advise patients/callers on appropriate pathways to deliver safe and evidence based care. As an Independent (non-medical) prescriber successful applicants will become part of the existing multiple disciplinary team, assessing and responding to appropriate patients who require urgent care advice and further treatment. This may involve immediate interventions and onward referral. Call outcomes will range from immediate referral to the emergency services by phone through to self care advice by phone. UPC 24-7, NP's are also expected to identify cases that can be rapidly triaged to attend their current UPC centre, focusing on appropriate appointment timings and national/local treatment guidance. There is a requirement for the majority of contracted hours to be worked during core out of hours periods including weekends. This also includes covering a percentage of bank holidays. There will also be opportunities to develop as a mobile response nurse for appropriate home visits across the ABUHB catchment area. Due to ongoing service developments and expansion, further development opportunities are forthcoming.
