Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to join their UPC 24-7 service. Candidates will utilize their telephone consultation and triage skills to assess and advise patients on safe, evidence-based care pathways. As independent prescribers, they will be part of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for addressing urgent care needs, making autonomous decisions for immediate interventions, and coordinating referrals, potentially including face-to-face consultations in Urgent Primary Care Centres. The role involves working primarily during out-of-hours periods, including weekends and some bank holidays, with options for mobile response service and further professional development opportunities as the service expands.

Nurse Practitioners will engage in comprehensive clinical assessments across all age groups, implementing self-care advice and referrals both within the UPC services and to external healthcare providers. The role encompasses various clinical and leadership responsibilities, contributing to ongoing service developments and enhancing patient care across the ABUHB catchment area.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is looking to recruit experienced Nurse Practitioners to work their UPC 24-7 service.

Using effective telephone consultation and triage skills, successful candidates will assess and advise patients/callers on appropriate pathways to deliver safe and evidence based care. As an Independent (non-medical) prescriber successful applicants will become part of the existing multiple disciplinary team, assessing and responding to appropriate patients who require urgent care advice and further treatment. This may involve immediate interventions and onward referral.

Call outcomes will range from immediate referral to the emergency services by phone through to self care advice by phone. UPC 24-7, NP's are also expected to identify cases that can be rapidly triaged to attend their current UPC centre, focusing on appropriate appointment timings and national/local treatment guidance. There is a requirement for the majority of contracted hours to be worked during core out of hours periods including weekends. This also includes covering a percentage of bank holidays.

There will also be opportunities to develop as a mobile response nurse for appropriate home visits across the ABUHB catchment area. Due to ongoing service developments and expansion, further development opportunities are forthcoming.

Telephone consultation and triage assessing all clinical conditions across all age ranges
Autonomous decision making in relation to these call outcomes (self care) and referrals internally within UPC or to other services - inside and external to the ABUHB
Face-to-Face consultations in Urgent Primary Care Centres and autonomous decision making in relation to appropriate care and treatments
