About DESW Our service provides screening to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, a complication of diabetes that can lead to vision loss or blindness if left untreated. The screening process involves taking high-quality digital images of the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye) to identify any damage to the small blood vessels caused by diabetes. Administer eye drops and accurately check pupil dilation within specified timeframes. Capture high-quality digital images of the retina using specialised cameras. Strictly adhere to DESW protocols and standard operating procedures. Drive the Trust's Light Goods Vehicle to clinic venues primarily across South Wales and Powys and occasionally other regions within Wales. "}
