Getting Help Teams (GHT) and Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community in response to the government’s Green Paper 2017 for Young People’s Mental Health. The supervising practitioner role will focus on providing day to day clinical and supervisory support for the Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP) Band 4/5 including trainees. The role will be working alongside community partners and developing relationships between the local authority Early Help community partners, MHST colleagues and Educational settings. The role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the GHT (in line with the THRIVE Framework), providing high quality, safe and responsive specialist mental health services to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals provided in accordance with Children and Young People’s IAPT principles, in partnership with service users and partner agencies, working as part of a multi-agency system. To be trained and confident in the use of CYP IAPT principles, evidence-based interventions (such as Low Intensity CBT) and Routine Outcome Measures. To care co-ordinate and manage a defined caseload of children and young people presenting with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for children and young people and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy. To provide day to day clinical and supervisory support for the Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP). To provide specialist mental health advice, consultation and signpost, using an outcome-based triage model, with schools and community. To provide training to school staff, parents and carers in conjunction with colleagues. To train and mentor students and less experienced members of the team. To act as an autonomous practitioner with an understanding of own limitations and recognition of when to seek support.
