Main duties of the job Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, utilising research findings as appropriate. Working with colleagues and patients to design and provide well managed care for people who attend ED with a mental health condition. Supporting the trust to achieve its aim of reducing attendances to the Emergency.Department by people with a mental health condition. Providing education and training to nursing colleagues across the department in the safe and effective management of patients with mental health conditions. Ensuring nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with St George's Healthcare policy taking appropriate actions in emergency situations. Setting, monitoring and maintaining high standards of nursing care in conjunction with other members of the multi disciplinary team. Maintaining personal contact with patients, relatives and carers being sensitive to their need for courtesy, dignity and privacy ensuring a friendly environment at all times. Maintaining accurate and up to date hourly nursing documentation and ensuring confidentiality is respected Storing, checking and administering medication in accordance with the NMC guidelines and the trust's Medicine Management Policy.
