Liaise with the management team to develop the infrastructure for the provision of the service. Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients. Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department management and development of the service. Expected to cover both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies during on calls. On Rota is 1 in 9. It is expected that the successful candidates will be based on one site but there may be a need for working across sites in the future depending on unit needs. This appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England). NWAFT serves a diverse and fast-growing population of 700,000 people and employs around 6,000 staff. NWAFT is commissioned by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICB and Lincolnshire ICB. Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke Maternity Departments have been rated as 'Good' by CQC in June 2023. They have fully equipped obstetric and midwifery led birthing units, fetal medicine scanning and high risk obstetric services in addition to high quality modern inpatient and outpatient Gynaecology services. The Maternity IT system is K2 with all 3 modules- Antenatal, Intrapartum and Postnatal. The unit has achieved UNICEF Level 3 for Breast Feeding Initiative (BFI). Both units have a credible reputation for their personal approach to the provision of maternity services and the excellent care provided for women and their families. There are about 2200 births per annum at Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH). Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) delivers around 4500 women per annum. Both units have a Midwifery-led birthing Unit (MLBU) alongside the Consultant led Unit. The standard job plan is of 10 programmed activities (PAs). This includes participation in a 1 in 9 on call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
