The post holder will need to demonstrate their skills in holistic assessment of ophthalmic patients, and ensure the smooth running of the out-patient clinics within the vitreo retinal service . We are a busy fast paced environment seeing up to 10,000 outpatients yearly, and approx. 800 patients within our emergency vitreo retinal unit . Hence you will need to be flexible, fast learning , motivated and an excellent all round communicator to suit this role. Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the vitreo retinal out-patient clinics , providing holistic nursing assessment and care for patients . He/she will need to ensure the co-ordination of the clinic, identifying issues and acting to resolve within his/her professional remit . The post will require you to provide pre-op assessment for a defined group of patients within the service and will be key to developing this pathway for the future . The post holder will be required to work across both the emergency vitreo retinal service and out-patient clinics and as such will need to be adaptable and confident in working within pressurised environments . This role includes the education , emergency treatment and improving the patients pathways of patients undergoing emergency retinal detachment , raised eye pressures and complex diabetic patients across the service . Promote high quality clinical care, and assist in the development of the specialist service,through the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards.
