This is a new role which has been established to support the Rheumatology team based at Orpington Hospital. The post holder will work with the Principal Pharmacist for Planned Medicine and Rheumatology MDT to establish outpatient clinics and streamline processes for initiating and maintaining patients on biologics/ targeted-synthetic small molecules. Although previous experience of working in this setting and/or with Rheumatology patients is desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided during the induction period and on an ongoing basis. The successful candidate will provide pharmacist-led clinics, lead a Virtual Biologics Clinic for patients initiating new therapies and ensure that Medicines Optimisation opportunities are realised. The use of advanced therapies such as biologics and JAK inhibitors are rapidly expanding, and this post will offer the opportunity to gain significant experience in service development to ensure that these therapies are prescribed in a safe and cost-effective manner. The post holder will play an active role in developing & monitoring treatment pathways with colleagues across South East London, offering an excellent opportunity for networking and sharing experiences. The role is based within the Rheumatology department at Orpington Hospital, with the need to attend our Denmark Hill site.
