This is a great opportunity to join our friendly clinical team in looking after our practice population of approx. 8900 patients. This is a varied and challenging role and will include a wide range of treatment room consultations and chronic disease management. Competitive rates of pay commensurate with experience. You will be providing a full range of treatment room services to our patients. In addition, there is potential to be involved in the delivery of chronic disease management and / or minor illness services depending on experience and/or interest in these areas. About us Wellside Surgery - Practice Nurse RESPONSIBLE TO: The Practice Nurse Team Leader Practice Manager Partners HOURS OF WORK: To be agreed LEAVE ENTITLEMENT: As per contract RATES OF PAY: As per contract ROLE The practice nurse will be accountable professionally for her individual actions. The practice nurse will communicate with any other members of staff concerned with patient care, and will give appropriate regard to patient confidentiality. It must be remembered that care of patients ultimately rests with the general practitioner with whom they are registered and that patient care can only be undertaken with the certain knowledge that the GP concerned has requested this either directly or as part of practice policy. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Key clinical duties of the post-holder will include: General treatment room duties and procedures Chronic disease management Collection of pathological specimens Investigatory procedures at the request of the GP Preventative procedures including immunisations (this will incorporate both child immunisations and travel vaccines) and cervical cytology Assisting GPs with clinical procedures when required (including chaperone duties) Care of equipment and maintenance of stock levels To attend patients in their home at the request of the GP, or in an emergency situation. Key administrative duties will include : To maintain clear and accurate notes of consultations within the computerised patient record To co-operate in practice research projects as required To participate in clinical audit activities To attend practice meetings as appropriate To participate in further education as deemed useful or necessary and to share this learning with other team members To participate in in-house training as required To participate in stock control and ordering of supplies Postscript This is a summary of key tasks, and is not intended as a comprehensive description of duties of the post.
