The post holder's role will cover the surgical wards, orthopaedic wards and ED. The post holder will hold a specialist caseload, using a range of knowledge and skills to provide Occupational therapy interventions to patients within our organisation. The role will involve holding a specialist caseload on our Surgical and Orthopaedic wards and ED. Supporting Occupational therapists and technical Instructors with their caseloads. This role involves responding to referrals to assess patients in our Emergency department with the aim of preventing admission. There will be opportunities to work alongside our community therapy teams. You will require good clinical knowledge of surgical and physical rehabilitation; working to facilitate safe and effective care and hospital discharge. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills with complex manual handling with appropriate training and support from experienced colleagues. You will work with a dedicated and motivated team of Occupational Therapists and work closely with colleagues across the MDT and complex discharge team. You will be supported by the Occupational Therapy Team Managers and the role will include supervision and support to Occupational Therapy team members and students. You will be encouraged and supported to engage in service development. All staff are encouraged to engage in in-service training and CPD is well supported by the management team. This post is eligible for the trusts relocation package, you will need to submit a claim form and eligible receipts upon commencement with the trust and you must remain in post within the trust for minimum 2 years.
