You would utilise clinical skills and influence service delivery and patient care models. Working with the ward manager and leadership team you will ensure that the older people inpatient service achieves its key objectives of delivering caring, safe and excellent care. The post holder will receive supervision from an Older People Consultant Clinical Psychologist and you would join a small number of older people psychologists working in Oxfordshire who meet regularly for supervision and CPD opportunities. Key duties of this role will be: To provide psychological assessment and intervention for adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting. To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by Clinical/ Counselling Psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment. To work as part of the inpatient team providing advice and guidance to colleagues as well as to social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local policies and procedures. To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the inpatient wards. To utilise research skills, as a requirement of the job, for audit, policy and service development and research. To propose and implement policy changes which may impact on other professionals working in the inpatient service. To take delegated leadership in specific area of clinical responsibility.
