Act as an expert resource for cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation related issues and actively participate in the management of cardiac arrest and medical emergencies. About us As part of a team contribute towards these areas: Assist the implementation and review of an evidence-based policy for cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation. Assist with the audit program to monitor the effectiveness of the policy and improve services based upon the audit findings. Support the senior sister in any audit development in response to the clinical strategy. Assist with the proactive identification of clinical risk and ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place to reduce risk to patients, staff and the organisation. Where available clinically support the cardiac arrest and medical emergency team in the absence of the acute intervention team. Provide support to wards as part of the cardiac arrest and medical emergency call follow up process. Ensure that any unexpected deaths are reviewed in a timely manner and the cardiac arrest review process is followed. All cardiac arrests should be safeguarded within 48 working hours. Support the mortality review group and complete mortality reviews for all cardiac arrest deaths. Assist in the updating of the cardiac arrest prevention team emergency call database. Provide support to ward managers and clinical teams in the follow up of cardiac arrests. Contribute to the work of the resuscitation committee. Act as an expert resource on cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation issues for trust staff. Identify and develop cardiac arrest prevention related projects by taking a lead responsibility for an aspect of cardiac arrest prevention practice. Provide and maintain a high standard of nursing practice in accordance with the NMCs Code of Practice and Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to the appraisal and application of research based practice and support its implementation within the clinical area. Support and develop junior members of the cardiac arrest prevention team. Work a clinical shift when required. Attend Governance meetings where ever possible and offer formal apologies if no CAP representative can attend. Deputise for the Senior Sister when requested. Develop and complete care group governance reports detailing any cardiac arrest review outcomes, open safeguards, audit results and quality improvement work. Support the Lead Nurse and Senior Sister of CAP and the AI team with any quality improvement projects. Attend RCA meetings when requested for any potential failure to rescue incident or where the incident relates to the deteriorating patient or is a potential unexpected death. Support the ward managers in completing a timeline for any complex or multi speciality incidents where the incident is a potential failure to rescue or is a potential unexpected death. Liaise with relevant departments and educational leads to identify cardiac arrest prevention and resuscitation training needs. Deliver and assist with the development of effective, manageable and achievable training programmes for all levels of staff. Assist with the provision of undergraduate education. Deliver (in collaboration with the rest of the cardiac arrest prevention team) an extensive portfolio of cardiac arrest prevention & resuscitation training courses. Participate in the annual training needs analysis in the planning of cardiac arrest prevention & resuscitation capacity. "}
